Billing via DEVK legal expenses insurance
If you have legal expenses insurance with DEVK, DEVK covers the costs of legal disputes. Depending on the insurance contract, this includes your own and the opposing party’s legal fees, court fees, expert fees, witness fees, and any other procedural costs.
If legal expenses cover is in place with DEVK, Harlander & Partner Rechtsanwälte GmbH bills all costs covered by the insurance contract directly with the legal expenses insurer.

Process with DEVK legal expenses insurance
Free initial consultation
The first step in handling a legal matter with DEVK legal expenses insurance is a free, non-binding initial consultation. This takes place conveniently via video conference or telephone. This means DEVK policyholders can always speak to an expert at short notice.
As part of the initial consultation for DEVK policyholders, we clarify whether we can take on the matter. Our attorneys have a broad range of specializations. However, there are cases we cannot cover. In such cases, we will be happy to recommend another specialist.
Power of Attorney
In the next step, we will send you the power of attorney. This already includes the note that, as the first action, a coverage request will be submitted to DEVK and that we will wait for the confirmation of cover before commencing any work that is subject to a fee.
Request for coverage
After receiving the power of attorney and the initial information about the matter, we submit a coverage request to DEVK legal expenses insurance based on this information. This service is also free of charge for DEVK policyholders, even if legal expenses cover is declined.
Confirmation of coverage
If cover is confirmed, DEVK legal expenses insurance covers the costs of the dispute to the extent provided for in the insurance contract. Often there are small deductibles or a limitation of reimbursement to out-of-court or court costs.
Billing
Where possible, billing is handled directly with DEVK insurance, so policyholders do not have to submit reimbursement applications.
