1. Warning about fraud attempts

After registration, trademarks are entered in a publicly accessible register. This fact is also exploited by fraudsters who send payment requests for entry “in the register” immediately after the trademark is registered.

As a result, many trademark applicants are deceived, assuming due to the temporal proximity that the payment is necessary for the registration of their trademark.

The basic rule is: if the payment request is not sent to you by us, it is certainly a fraud attempt – no matter how genuine the letter looks.

Therefore, do not pay any payment requests in connection with your trademark registration that do not originate from our law firm.

2. Domain

Please secure all necessary domains for your trademark immediately to avoid the risk of the domains being registered by someone else in the time leading up to the trademark registration.

An excellent overview of all available domains is offered by providers such as Domaintechnik and United Domains.

3. Funding

The European Union is currently promoting the registration of trademarks. As part of the funding, up to 75% of the registration fees are reimbursed after registration. For this, it is necessary that the funding is applied for before registration and has been approved.

Please apply for the funding immediately to avoid delaying the registration. All information on how to apply for funding can be found at https://www.euipo.europa.eu/de/sme-corner/sme-fund/overview

Please send us the funding approval as soon as you receive it to avoid delaying the registration.

What Happens Next?

Our trademark team now has all the documents to review and register your trademark. Ideally, this process takes one to two weeks.

If a phase can be successfully completed during the review, we will proceed directly to the next phase and ultimately to the creation of the registration documents without any interim consultation. Ideally, you will receive an email directly in one to two weeks to approve the registration documents.

However, should uncertainties or obstacles arise in a phase, you will receive an email asking you to select your preferred date for an interim consultation online.
