Billing via VAV legal expenses insurance
If you have legal expenses insurance with VAV, VAV covers the costs of legal disputes. Depending on the insurance contract, this includes your own and the opposing party’s legal fees, court fees, expert fees, witness fees, and any other procedural costs.
If VAV provides legal expenses coverage, Harlander & Partner Rechtsanwälte GmbH bills all costs covered under the insurance contract directly to the legal expenses insurer.

Process with VAV legal expenses insurance
Free initial consultation
The first step in handling a legal matter with VAV legal expenses insurance is a free, non-binding initial consultation. This takes place conveniently via video conference or telephone. This means VAV insured persons can always speak to an expert at short notice.

Power of Attorney
In the next step, we will send you the power of attorney. This already includes the note that, as the first action, a coverage request will be submitted to VAV and that we will wait for the confirmation of coverage before commencing chargeable work.
Request for coverage
After receiving the power of attorney and the initial information about the matter, we submit a coverage request to VAV legal expenses insurance based on this information. This service is also free of charge for VAV insured persons, even if legal expenses coverage is declined.
Confirmation of coverage
If coverage is confirmed, VAV legal expenses insurance covers the costs of the dispute to the extent provided for in the insurance contract. Often, there are small deductibles or a limitation of reimbursement to out-of-court or court costs.
Billing
Where possible, billing is handled directly with VAV insurance, so that policyholders do not have to submit reimbursement applications.
