Billing via HDI Legal Protection Insurance
If legal protection insurance through HDI is in place, HDI covers the costs of legal disputes. Depending on the insurance contract, this includes one’s own and the opposing party’s attorney fees, court fees, expert witness fees, witness fees, and any other procedural costs.
If legal protection coverage from HDI is available, Harlander & Partner Attorneys GmbH bills all costs covered by the insurance contract directly with the legal protection insurance company.

Process with HDI Legal Protection Insurance
Free initial consultation
The first step in handling a legal matter with HDI Legal Protection Insurance is a free and non-binding initial consultation. This takes place conveniently via video conference or telephone. This way, HDI policyholders can always speak with an expert at short notice.
During the initial consultation for HDI policyholders, we clarify whether we can take on the legal matter. Our attorneys have a wide range of specializations. Nevertheless, there are cases we cannot cover. In such cases, we are happy to recommend another specialist.
Power of Attorney
In the next step, we will send you the power of attorney. This already contains the note that the first action will be to submit a coverage inquiry to HDI, and that billable processing will await the coverage confirmation.
Request for coverage
Upon receipt of the power of attorney and initial information regarding the legal matter, we submit a coverage inquiry to HDI Legal Protection Insurance based on this information. This service is also free of charge for HDI policyholders, even if legal protection coverage is denied.
Confirmation of coverage
In the event of a coverage confirmation, HDI Legal Protection Insurance covers the costs of the legal dispute to the extent of the insurance contract. Often, there are small deductibles or a limitation of cost reimbursement to out-of-court or court costs.
Billing
Wherever possible, billing is done directly with HDI Insurance, so that their policyholders do not have any effort with submitting reimbursement requests.
