Billing via DMB legal expenses insurance
If you have legal expenses insurance with DMB, DMB covers the costs of legal disputes. Depending on the insurance contract, this includes your own and the opposing party’s legal fees, court fees, expert fees, witness fees, and any other procedural costs.
If DMB provides legal expenses coverage, Harlander & Partner Attorneys-at-Law GmbH bills all costs covered by the insurance contract directly to the legal expenses insurer.

Process with DMB legal expenses insurance
Free initial consultation
The first step in handling a legal matter with DMB legal expenses insurance is a free, non-binding initial consultation. This can conveniently take place via video conference or telephone. This means DMB policyholders can always speak to an expert at short notice.
As part of the initial consultation for DMB policyholders, we clarify whether we can take on the case. Our attorneys have a broad range of specialisations. Nevertheless, there are cases we cannot cover. In such cases, we will be happy to recommend another specialist.
Power of Attorney
In the next step, we will send you the power of attorney. This already includes the note that, as the first action, a coverage request will be submitted to DMB and that we will wait for the confirmation of coverage before commencing any fee-based work.
Request for coverage
After receiving the power of attorney and the initial information about the legal matter, we submit a coverage request to DMB legal expenses insurance based on this information. This service is also free for DMB policyholders, even if legal expenses coverage is declined.
Confirmation of coverage
If coverage is confirmed, DMB legal expenses insurance covers the costs of the dispute to the extent provided for in the insurance contract. Often, there are small deductibles or a limitation of reimbursement to out-of-court or court costs.
Billing
Where possible, billing is handled directly with DMB insurance, so that policyholders do not have to submit reimbursement applications.
