Billing via Continentale legal expenses insurance
If you have legal expenses insurance with Continentale, Continentale covers the costs of legal disputes. Depending on the insurance contract, this includes your own and the opposing party’s legal fees, court fees, expert witness fees, witness fees, and any other procedural costs.
If Continentale provides legal expenses coverage, Harlander & Partner Rechtsanwälte GmbH bills all costs covered by the insurance contract directly to the legal expenses insurer.

Process with Continentale legal expenses insurance
Free initial consultation
The first step in handling a legal matter with Continentale legal expenses insurance is a free, non-binding initial consultation. This can conveniently take place via video conference or telephone. This allows Continentale policyholders to speak with an expert at short notice at any time.
As part of the initial consultation for Continentale policyholders, we clarify whether we can take on the matter. Our attorneys have a broad range of specializations. However, there are cases we cannot cover. In such cases, we will be happy to recommend another specialist.
Power of Attorney
In the next step, we will send you the power of attorney. It already includes the note that, as the first action, a coverage request will be submitted to Continentale and that we will wait for the confirmation of coverage before commencing any work that is subject to a fee.
Request for coverage
After receiving the power of attorney and the initial information about the matter, we submit a coverage request to Continentale legal expenses insurance based on this information. This service is also free for Continentale policyholders, even if legal expenses coverage is denied.
Confirmation of coverage
If coverage is confirmed, Continentale legal expenses insurance covers the costs of the dispute to the extent provided for in the insurance contract. Often, there are small deductibles or a limitation of reimbursement to out-of-court or court costs.
Billing
Where possible, billing is handled directly with Continentale insurance, so that policyholders do not have to submit cost reimbursement applications.
